How do I find words with specific letters?

Enter one or more letters in Starts with, Ends with, or Contains. You can combine those fields with an exact length and excluded letters in the same search.

How do I find words of a certain length?

Choose an exact length from 2 to 15 in the finder. You can use length alone or combine it with any other pattern field.

How do I find words that start and end with specific letters?

Enter both constraints in the finder, such as S in Starts with and R in Ends with. Wordsy also maintains a small selected set of server-rendered pattern pages.

Does Word-game mode certify words for Scrabble?

No. Word-game mode is a broad SCOWL size-80 vocabulary layer with many rare words. It is not an official Scrabble, Words With Friends, or other commercial-game lexicon, so check the dictionary used by your game.

How big is the dictionary and where does it come from?

Wordsy builds Common, Extended, and Word-game American English layers from the open-source SCOWL/ESDB project. The layers correspond to SCOWL sizes 60, 70, and 80 and are filtered for abbreviations, special categories, profanity, character set, and word length.
